Balloon Ghost Music

I'm not 100% finished with the song yet, but it's sounding great.

All I have left to do is to update the rhythm section a bit. It's a song for solo piano, so unlike my other video game songs, this one has no drums or bass. That hardly ever makes it easier to write, though. Relying on the piano for rhythm and bass is why I chose the ragtime style as my main source of inspiration, as that style handles both very well.

As far as the melody goes, I'm very happy with it. I've always enjoyed the music from games almost as much as the game itself. Playtesting the game while listening to my first draft of the song is making me feel like it's all coming together. The black and white, the lone piano, the simple design...it's pretty awesome how it all fits together.

Although I really like writing music for my games, I'm not going to be able to write more than one song for this one. There just isn't enough time. So, for the first time ever, I'm going to have one song playing in a loop for the entirety of the game. It's going to be an interesting compromise for me, but if the song turns out as well as I hope, it will be worth it.
