Balloon Ghost Tiles: Mario Maker Edition

This late in the game, I desperately need inspiration. I'm taking tips from one of the best 2D tilesets in the business, Super Mario World for the SNES. I'm also finding that some of the SMB2 and even original Super Mario Bros tiles are not too bad. I'm drawing the tiles, but I'm learning the patterns from these games.

Other types of patterns I'll use are more basic. I'm employing zig zags, diagonal stripes, plaid, big polka dots, and other types of basic shapes to fill in the maps. The idea is to have something simple that doesn't look like a solid block of gray. And by simple, I mean really simple.

It's a bit unfortunate, but the black and white scheme actually makes it look a lot better. It's the best I can do with less than a week left to get this thing finished. Which leads to my next point.

When it's time to start making my next game, I'm going to spend a lot of time defining the environment and drawing concept art before I start making tiles.
