Demoralization

AI hype is focused on demoralization. That's what I don't like about it. I don't dislike the hype because of a doubt in the technology, but because of the rhetoric behind the hype.

"AI will replace your job."

"Better start planning your next move, AI is coming for you!"

"Is your job going to be obsolete in 5 years due to AI?"

Why not focus on something positive for a change?

I honestly don't know what the deal is with these people. Is there some kind of push to get people to spend all their money out of fear that they won't have any in the future?

The news is not the only source of this nonsense. I hear most of this coming from social media bros.

What do I personally think of AI? Nothing at the moment, but there is a forboding sense that a future dominated by statistically average content will not be as exciting as it's being made out to be.

But don't fret - just tune out the negativity and enjoy the ride. And maybe try to make a good face next time for the picture at the end.
