Patience and Letting Go

Hope is what we have. It's what we live on.

Hope will build you up.

What I struggle with in hoping is the patience. I can be hopeful, sure, but I have trouble understanding the patience required to continue hoping. To me, it seems like hope and patience are the same thing. Hoping for something requires patience for waiting, and there is no guarantee.

Doubts creep in.

But I know that God is in control. Everything is in His hands.

Letting Go means giving up control of your own life and handing it to God. I was patient, I was hopeful, but I hadn't let go. I was still trying to do things on my timeline.

But God has His own timeline for my life. What I'm asking of Him, He knows when and if He will give it to me. And everything given to us by God is a gift. We did not and do not deserve it.

In the meantime, while I'm waiting, I will be patient. I will live my life for God. I'll let Him take over; He will provide for me on His time, not mine.

Knowing that God is in control is freeing. If I could do it on my own, why would I be asking Him for anything? So if I can't do something on my own and ask Him to provide for me, I have no business worrying about it.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7
The peace of God surpasses all understanding - so I won't even try to explain it.
