Spyro Reignited Trilogy OST: My Musical Guilty Pleasure

Spyro Reignited Trilogy's OST is my musical guilty pleasure. The tunes are very well made, and my favorite are the songs from the first game. They demonstrate the "elevator music" quality of all video game music from the time; they are meant to serve as background music that works well in a loop, and they are more focused on setting a tone through melody and rhythm rather than on emotional expression. Spyro's music is exciting and energetic, and yet it is surprisingly ambient when playing the game; and it's meant to make playing as a fire-breathing dragon fun and rebellious.

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy's OST is even more impressive in that the original composer, Stewart Copeland, recreated all of the original tracks note by note and beat by beat for the remake. I listen to this soundtrack while both working and relaxing, but I only say it's a "guilty pleasure" because it's a video game soundtrack for a cartoon character. I have no shame, though, as I'm in exactly that business, too - I make video games featuring cartoon characters and I write music for them.
